    @utarian7 – As long as you don’t use an iron that is too hot, (smoking wax) and you don’t leave the iron sitting on the board, you will be fine.

    Use a stone to clean up your edges and avoid files until you know how to tune them.

    Files can kill your edges if you are doing incorrectly.

    I’ve never snowboarded before in my life and know nothing about them. I bought a burton uninc and will be snowboarding for 3 months straight. Should I or could I start waxing my snowboard on my own? What is the risk I’ll damage it?

    @BURTONBOARDER70 – Leaving too much wax in will start to slow you down. Scraping the board when the wax is hot will pull the wax back out of the grooves in the base. This is called a hot scrape and is the best way to clean your base. It pulls all the oils and dirt out of the base.

    Usually between five and eight days of riding before you must retune.

    Use a sharp, plastic scraper. You need to sharpen them from time to time.

    Metal scrapers will scare up your base.
