What camera is best for snowboarding photos?

with 5 comments

I am planning to buy a new camera and ideally i’d like one that is able to withstand slightly tough conditions whilst snowboarding because i’m too scared i’ll break my current one! Does anyone have any suggestions of a decent camera for this?
Thanks πŸ™‚

Well actually, all of the Nikon F-series cameras are built tougher than their digital brethren.

The Nikon F3 is a tank, you drop it onto concrete and you’ll leave a camera shaped hole there. Same goes for the F5.

D3’s not bad, but theres a lot more electronics in one of those compared to the F3.

  1. There really is no "best" for any particular situation. Actually the best comes down to you, the person using the camera. If you have the skills it takes to get the shots you want virtually any camera will do.

If you also know how to take care of camera gear, why would you be worried about your present camera? If you don’t know how to properly take care of gear then learn. Get a good camera bag and unless you’re planning on dunking your camera in the snow because you don’t use a neck strap (like so many who write in here crying about dropping their cameras) then I’d get a strap, use it, learn to take care of equipment and have fun.

  5. The Panasonic Lumix TZ10 is an amazing camera. I bought one after lots of research and to take it snowboarding this season. Great photos and amazing HD video (take a look at some of the samples online). Goes down to 25mm wide angle so perfect for holding while travelling down the piste!
